16 wanting birth control - please help!

So I'm 16 and I'm with this guy who's also 16 and basically we haven't had sex but we have done other stuff and we have talked about doing it but in a couple of months, the problem is I don't want to do it unless I'm on birth control (aswell as him wearing a condom) because I really don't want to get pregnant. I definately can't go to my mum about it because I am a very awkward person and it was just like hell when I told her I even had a boyfriend! So does anyone have any advice on how to go on the pill without my mum knowing or some good tips on prehaps talking to her? Thankyou!
