Twins?

Question

I don't have any twins on my side of the family, but my boyfriend's mom's side of the family has lots of twins. Does that mean I'll likely have twins? Cuz my boyfriend's mom said I probably will. And that makes me very nervous because I'm a small lady. (5'2 and 103 lbs) 😰😰😰

No. Only if twins run in your side of the family would you be more likely to have twins. His side doesn't matter.

My nan had two sets of twins and my SO also has twins on his side and no twins for me yet. It would be lovely tho

No the women is the side that makes the twins mostly so if he had a sister she would probly get the twins before you two do

Nope. It's you who will be predisposed to have twins. You would have to ovulate twice in a cycle in order to get frat twins. That being said, there are zero twins in my family, but I am sitting here looking at my 3 year old fraternal twins. I am now more likely to have twins again. The normal stats are 1:100, and now because I have twins, it is 1:12....that goes for my girls as well.

Identical twins are just random.

It's on the mothers side. So if twins run on your mothers side then the likelyhood raises but I was told only by like 10% chance. Both of my grandmothers are fraternal twins and my sister and I are identical.  Also have a few other sets of twins on my mothers side,  I  have two  sisters (one being my twin)  , we all have children and all single births.

No. Twins fall into two categories
IDENTICAL
Freak accident of nature where one egg is fertilised, and during the normal cell division of the zygote it accidentally splits into two completely seperate clusters of cells which both continue to grow into two babies
FRATERNAL
Mums fertility is what creates these as it is the result of mum releasing 2 eggs in one cycle, so two seperate eggs that both get fertilised by 2 seperate sperm and create 2 seperate humans that look different to eachother 
For example my own brother's are frat twins one has green eyes one has blue, one has straight hair one has curly, one has darker skin tone one is super pale with freckles. 
Twins has nothing to do with the dads side, BUT from my understanding if his family is highly fertile he can pass on that high fertility to his kids

You don't have a greater chance, but if you have a daughter she would. Twins come from the woman releasing 2 eggs or the egg splitting. His spermies won't get you twins.

Yeah I believe twins gets passed down if both parents carry the gene or if it's strong maternally. But what I know might be hear say. And don't worry. No matter your size, woman's bodies are strong. They can handle a lot. My sister is 5'2 and was 102 lbs and carried a 11 lbs baby! He was big! I'm sure your twins will be smaller even together. Lol. He was her second child. She has 3 boys and a baby girl total. I'm sure you will be fine.
