Moms - breastfeeding?

Do you HAVE to breastfeed? Because I've always been kind of iffy about it. What are the pros/cons of breastfeeding or not breastfeeding?

I started breastfeeding but I wasn't feeling it so I found formula to be a heck of a lot more convenient but keep in mind the cost adds up

You don't HAVE to breastfeed lol it's a choice a lot of ladies are making now a days.. The milk has a lot if benefits for the baby and for the mother... I choose to breastfeed cuz I feel closer to my new born, the many benefits it has on newborns, the cost of formula is sick, and I like the idea of how breast feeding helps lose weight lol.

Cons would be
Cannot take a variety of medications but many are safe
Will be in nursing clothes but there are cute ones
Cannot leave the newborn for long unless you pump 
Some struggle at first but there are lactation experts who help
Sore when milk comes in but passes
Some babies have cleft lip and tongue ties- making it hard but Latino experts can help
Some moms have inverted nipples but a nipple shield can help
Sore nipples but that is a larch issue

Some women simply cannot breastfeed. I am 100% for nursing but if I had to use formula I would in a heartbeat. Formula was made for mothers with low supply to none so that they could nourish the child without a wet nurse or goats milk   In the 60s it became all the rage because only rich women could afford it. So it was the newest coolest thing. Since then the benefits of nursing have been better studied.  I implore you to look into or leche league. And if you can't nurse don't sweat it- that's why we have formula

Btw I was a milk donor for 8 months for 4 places. Pumping 80 oz a day. Then a donor to a private mother for another 4 months. So if you produce a lot you can save a child's life. Inwatched a premise go from losing weight in the hospital and dying to gaining and going home that month. All from breastmilk

You have to feed your baby, that is all. You can breastfeed, you can pump and bottle feed, or you can formula feed. I personally breastfeed and love it, I never am without a way to feed the baby so I don't have to plan so much. My sister formula fed and loved it no leaking boobs, no need to worry about a cocktail.

Lower risk of bone cancer in mother
Menapose** comes easier 
Better nutrients for baby which means better bone health and teeth 
Great for allergies in baby
Gives baby a healthy weight so when they crawl it burns off well. 
Faster recovery after birth
Amazing for allergies in baby. My son was a celiac and severe dairy allergy. The formula he would have been okay on cost $37 a can. Which would last a few days. Breastfeeding meant I could change my diet for free
Cheaper. No bottles and what not unless you pump   But some insurance companies cover a pump 
No getting up at night to make a bottle just latch baby on 
Can postpone a period
Introduces baby to more flavored because it goes through milk
Milk can be put on scrapes, diaper rashes and more
Can freeze breastmilk to use while teething 
Can mix breastmilk into foods when trying them out
Can keep eight hours verses 30 minutes for formula

It's best for mom and baby!  No one makes you do it!!  My first I tried and failed and bottle fed.   My second I nursed for 15 months. I hated washing bottles and having to make them in the middle of the night and worry about feedings on the go being the right temp with bottle feeding. With nursing it was so easy.  No washing heating or temp taking, just feeding.  Don't get me wrong nursing is hard the first few weeks but after your established its seriously the coolest bond and really shows you how impressive your body is. And helps you drop the pounds like crazy so that's always nice ☺️

I loved BF. I did it for about 8 months. Going for a year this time. I hate buying formul, and it stinks. Washing bottles sucks. BF is hands free too, so you can browse the Internet or read a magazine. Can't do that with a bottle in your hand. 
 It also doesn't stretch the baby's stomach like bottle feeding seems to do.

I loved breastfeeding when I had to stop I actually mourned it. Breast feeding actually has a lot of benefits for mom. It burns a couple hundred calories a day and helps your uterus get back to normal size. Your baby also gets all the immunity to diseases you have while they are Breast feeding. Formula will work as a substitute, but it has a lot of added sugar and doesn't have the extra benefits that Breast milk does. I did suppliment with formula, because my son had jaundice. I could see a difference in his behavior between formula and breast milk. Formula is like digesting red meat and breast milk is like digesting fish ,it's much easier for baby to digest, if that helps at all. Good luck with whatever you choose.
