Perspective for those sympathetic to Duggar.

I'm posting this anonymously, purely for the off chance that my daughter or sister could be on this app. I'm sure anyone involved in the other threads can easily establish who this is, but anyhow....

When I was 5 repeatedly molested by the town pedophile. This happened because my mother and grandmother sent me off with him as the babysitter. Fast forward several years and I found out that they knew that the man was a pedophile, they allowed me to be with him willingly. It is a horriffic and lonely, shameful feeling to know your entire family stood by knowing what was happening to you, and not only didn't intervene, but made excuses and acted as if though nothing should bother me because it had been 5 6 years earlier. That was 32 years ago, my abuser is dead, and I still hurt. I have no relationship whatsoever with my family outside of my husband and children, because I learned early on that I was not valuable in the eyes of my family, I had no protectors, there was no natural affection, or they would never have allowed this to happen more than once, (and I say more than once as opposed to never on a very off chance that the first time they just didn't see it coming) . So to those of you that feel like we shouldn't be harsh towards this family and Josh Duggar for what happened, or feel like we should be sympathetic to the fact that it was over a decade ago and the girls will be fine, you have no idea what you're talking about. And as a human being should be ashamed that you're thinking allows room for anything other than contempt and disgust for this family and what they gave subjected those girls to.

I too, like some of you, believe that he/they will answer to God for what has happened, but that does NOT mean I need to turn a blind eye or cover over to spare them from the repercussions of what they did. Nor does He expect me to extend some kind of mental olive branch to my abuser, my family for allowing it to happen and sure as heck not to the Duggars.
