How do I know if my twins are identical or fraternal?

My technician (sp?) hasn't told me...is there another way to know?

I'm expecting twins also, mine are fraternal, a boy & a girl. At first I was told that if the babies share a sac that means their identical & if they have their own sacs that their fraternal, but then my doctor told me that's not always the case. That yes if they share a sac then their identical, but there's some that have their own sacs that are identical, not always though. If you have a boy & a girl like me taken their automatically fraternal.

If they're in two seperate sacs they're fraternal. If they share the same sac they are identical.

It depends on how far along you are. If the placenta(s) aren't formed its hard to tell which type you have. There are fraternals that are really close and look like identicals, and there are identicals in seperate sacs that can mimic fraternals. I didn't know until 13 weeks

I'm having fraternal twins. They have separate sacs and placenta. It's not always cut and dry. Twins can have separate sacs but still share a placenta which would be identical, as well as sharing a sac with one placenta. Here's what mine looked like at my very first ultrasound:

I know mine are fraternal because they checked my ovary and you can see two spots where eggs passed through.

They can be identical in separate sacs. It all depends on if and when the egg split.
