It's fraternal twins that are genetic.  The genetic component causes over ovulation, making you more likely to release 2 or more eggs at a time.  You can inherit this gene from either your mother or your father, but obviously only women can express the gene because men don't ovulate lol.  This is also why people say that it skips a generation, bc male births make up 50%, giving the illusion of skipping.

Depends which side of the family.  If it's on your mother's side then yes, you'll have more of a chance.  Women decide in twins and men decide on the gender.

It depends on which side your cousins come from... If there are twins on your mothers side then you have a higher chance to have twins. But at the same time if your twin cousins mom is not the parent that is related to your mom then that doesn't count for you, it counts for her daughters and granddaughters, ect.
