Sperm count - IUI or IVF

I just did my first IUI and our count was 8M pre- and 2.1M post-wash. This is lower than previous analyses despite vitamins, etc. The doctor didn't say whether it was good or bad, but judging from research success rates are so low. Has anyone had success or other experiences with low counts and motility? Has anyone been advised to go straight to IVF with low counts and motility? I'm starting to feel like IUI is a waste for us. My doctor hasn't advised IVF yet, but she doesn't do the procedure herself so wondering if that impacts her advice. Thank you all in advance!

Ivf is the most effective. But it is a commitment so make sure you research everything.

My husband has a low sperm count 2m. We failed our first iui cycle. My doctor told me to skip iui and go straight to ivf just to get over the sperm hurdle. my opinion is that it's hard to get pregnant with that little bit of sperm although they say it can happen....You can also freeze his sperm (for a fee) just so you can double up on his count for your next IUI..... I'm preparing myself for an IVF cycle. It is a commitment and it's true you should do your research. Good luck to you!! :)
