Will getting my nipple pierced effect me being able to breastfeed my future children?

I got both my nipples pierced 11 years ago. I've breastfed two kids since (and will breastfeed my third) and have had no piercing related problems with breastfeeding. Just make sure that you're fully healed before popping up pregnant, and that you take the jewelry out prior to feeding. After feeding, you can put it back in with no problems.

I have mine done & my piercer AND multiple doctors said it won't effect it negatively at all!!! I can't believe so many people voted yes. Scar tissue MAY cause some slight issues but other than that it opens more holes which = better flow! The only thing is that they dont recommend breastfeeding WITH the piercings in because its not good for you or baby but if you take them out it will be perfectly fine!

I had both mine pierced, and breastfed my daughter just fine.Obv I took them out wayyy beforehand...but they caused no complications!!

I don't plan on having kids anytime soon. I was just curious for like 5 years from now. so thank you ladies for your comments!  It helped a lot!

Scar tissue can cause issues. So if you do get piercings it's important you visit the lactation consultant within a couple days of having baby. Just for a checkup and to make sure everything goes smooth as possible.

It's possible. Depends on the scar tissue. I got mine done but took them out before ttc. So I'll see if it messes with it in any way. Some just have more holes for the milk to come out of.

They have a high rejection rate and can cause scar tissue that can block the milk ducts...not to mention they take months to heal fully
