Is it true if you have an epidural that you also need a catheter????

Can I skip the epidural and just get the catheter? I'm so tired of getting up to pee...

I had a catheter with my epidural, but idk if it's required. You can't feel anything from the waist down so it wasn't uncomfortable or anything & obviously kept me from peeing on myself lol.

Yes, because you won't be able to walk to the bathroom once you're medicated.

I was expecting it but I did not have a catheter. I got the epidural and then luckily labor progressed fast enough that the catheter never happened.

I think so, because you're pretty much numb from the waist down. I'd imagine the hospital would not want to be liable for letting you pee once that epidural kicks in.

If it's a walking epidural, no. Otherwise yes but you probably won't know anything about it... I didn't!

Yes you do. But they put it in after you get it and you won't feel a thing

Yes you do. You can't get up to pee for a day or two. With all the fluids they give you, you'll be getting up to pee like every 30 mins anyway so this way you won't have to. You can't feel it put in anyway cuz they do it after they give you the epi and when they pull it out it's not that bad. Takes a second and you barely feel it.
