Dating scan?

Question

Around when do doctors usually confirm a due date? I had my appointment at 8 weeks but they said I'm measure a few days ahead but we will stick with my lmp for now. Is that all there is to dating a pregnancy? Will  they at some point give me a more definitive answer?

At your anatomy scan they may tell you another date but the most accurate day to go by is from LMP. Baby can measure big or small and be right on track so the size isn't really accurate. My 1st was born on her exact due date, the date I had from my very first appointment. This is #2 and my date has changed 2 times.. So I have no idea when baby is coming lol

I'm not sure. Due dates always seem like more of an estimate to me, so it would be hard to confirm a day (unless you're planning on having a scheduled csection). I think the farther along you get they'll have a better idea of when you'll give birth, but it's merely an educated guess.

I never had a dating ultrasound. He checked all my levels, felt around the size of my cervix or uterus or whatever, then measured my tummy, and said "Yup! I think you're right where you think you are!". Had an anatomy scan at about 20weeks and she was measuring right on track! My doctor has been doing this for over 30 years so I was definitely confident in his ability and the answer he gave me.
