Breastfeeding to formula help

On the 6th my son will be 3 months. He's been EBF since day 1. But he's hit his 3 month growth spurt and it's really hurting my milk. I've been taking the pills,tea and pumping and nothing is making me completely full again. I have a feeling I might be drying up as when he eats he gets what he can and I fell completely soft, like really soft so we switch sides and it's the same but he's still hungry so back to the other side. Just when he's so hungry he crystal and it's breaks my heart. Stresses me out and feel like I'm not making enough. My question is how did other moms handle switching to formula and how did your babies take to it?
