How long is my actual period?

So I since my period stated back up after having my second child, its been weird. I will get maybe 4 super heavy days and then minimal spotting for a day or two. Then when I think my period is over dh and I have sex and I spot more. If all the days I have blood count as my period, then its usually 10days long. Do days where I don't need anything but maybe a liner count as a period day? It makes logging difficult
