Who has an anxiety disorder and deals with it well?

I deal with it daily and am afraid it will be passed on to my unborn children and my fiancé will not be able to handle it when comes home from deployment for the last time.

I started a meditation and mindfulness practice about a year ago. At first I was sceptical but a friend convinced me that I had nothing to lose except for 10 minutes a day. It has been a godsend.

There are two apps that might help you out to start. 
Headspace - a ten day practice with script. Lovely explanations of what and why you should try. 
Stop Breath and Think- you take a mini interview before each session and it tailors it to you.

i have really intense anxiety. i've had panic attacks since i was 12, where i can't breathe, then start to hyperventilate, lose feeling in my face and limbs, pass out (sometimes on a not so soft surface) and come to. the cycle will repeat itself for about an hour. i wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. i've had one panic attack since being pregnant and have come to the acceptance that anxiety will most likely be passed on to my unborn. the good news is i believe all babies choose their mothers. they are aware in which body they are placing themselves and know all the repercussions and benefits to making that body their temporary home. all i can do is hope and wish that my baby turns out perfectly healthy, and i can resume taking my prescribed medication, for that is the final and only cure i have tried that has worked for me. good luck!

I've suffered from anxiety almost daily for 9 years but I can't answer yes,no or not well because it honestly depends on the day. Sometimes I'm great & there's no sign of it bothering me that day, other times it's so light & manageable & others days it has me so drained & barely able to get around my house. Educate your man on it. Make sure he completely understands how it makes you feel. He may not take it as seriously as you at first & there may even be some mean things said by him, (probably nothing you haven't heard before from others who don't suffer from it) but it hurts more to hear it from your man. Forgive him, for he truly does not understand because he does not suffer from it. It's a hard concept for other people to process for some reason. However, with time, with each passing anxiety attack he is involved in.... He will slowly but surely become more sensitive to the subject & understand. My husband did not at first. Said all the things others who don't suffer from it, have said but it hurt more that he did not understand. I'm happy he finally came to his senses. He now comforts & calms me when having an anxiety attack rather than brush it off his shoulders & allow me to suffer alone. Also, I have a 4 year old daughter, I surprisingly had almost 0 anxiety attacks while pregnant with her. She shows no signs so far of suffering from anxiety. Hopefully it stays that way & she never has to deal with this pain. Good luck sweetie.

I've had anxiety since I was a little girl, my mom chose not to put me on medication and I think it was the right choice.. I learned relaxation techniques and have learned to control my anxiety without the use of medicine. Now that I'm an adult I've made my own decision not to start medication. However I think some people just have it worse and benifit greatly from medicine.. it really depends on the person.

I have serious depression and anxiety (so does everyone in my immediate family) and my husband is a constant worrier so I'm scared we'll pass these traits on to our kids. For now, I do a lot of yoga to try and relax which helps a little.

I have a whole mess of shit going on. I had a rough life up until recently. I have panic disorder, obsessive compulsive thoughts, bipolar, ptsd. I had a nervous breakdown a few years ago after my wisdom teeth were out and a bunch of huge life events happened in a couple days. I snapped. I went down hill. I cried in between panic attacks that were constant. I wouldn't go to sleep and when I passed out I'd have night terrors and wake up with an attack. I reverted back to childhood and would watch the crooks on repeat all night while clutching a stuffed moose. I dropped 20lbs in 3wks and became agoraphobic. I was taken and admitted before I was prescribed meds. I slowly started to recover. I met my best friend who became my safety and now we are married. I haven't had an attack in months and stopped taking the meds almost a year ago. They were doing more bad than good. I honestly can't give advice on how I made it stop. I just stopped caring... not to say that I gave up I just stopped fighting the attavks. I sat through them calmly as if if I'm going to die then im going to lie down and close my eyes and let it happen. I knew I wouldn't really die, it was just the panic but after doing this over the period of months I slowly started to come back.
Sorry for my ramble but there's my story. It can get really bad but everyone has to find what will help them get through it. For me it was just accepting the possibility of true danger and sitting myself down and calmly waiting through it making peace.
