Age for an IUD?

I'm 15 and about to get some form of birth control. My mother wants me to get an IUD since it's the most effective. Is there a certain age you have to be to get an IUD?

The American Academy of Pediatrics said in 2014 that IUDs are the best birth control method for teenagers because they are effective, easy, & long lasting.

They recommended the IUD for me almost a year ago and I'm 15, so you should be able to get one. However, they might've only said this because I can't really use hormonal birth control and I live in the UK so it could be different where you are at :)

I thought with the IUD they want you to already have a child? Idk because I wanted it before kids and everyone kept saying it and they had a baby already, I'm on the shot now but I don't really like it because it blew me up, but different strokes for different folks

IUDs can be painful for those who haven't had children yet and can also cause problems.

I suggest the shot.

I am not sure but I doubt they would give a 15 your old the IUD. Maybe try the pill?
