Baby moving during contractions?

Is it normal for the baby to squirm or move a lot during a contraction? It seems like everytime I feel like I'm having a contraction, the baby gets real active. The contractions are not consistent so I know I'm not in labor.

My nurse described it as "he doesn't know what is going on down there so he is kind of freaking out like you are".

Honestly I don't remember feeling my daughter move my whole entire labor haha because I was obviously focused to much on the pain. I want to say one of the signs of actual labor though is that the baby movements become less and less like during early labor. You'll still feel it but not as much.
