Is it a bad omen to stock up on baby gear while ttc?

My grandmother found my stash and I had to tell her I was trying and she said it was wrong for me to stock up...but I think it's because most black people don't really plan kids (not saying there aren't more like me) but I think she feels that way because she's not used to people getting pregnant on purpose, it just kind of "happens" in my
Neighborhood.

I don't believe in omens or superstition.

I was planning on doing this, but I was told by my mother that I will most likely get everything I need from my family. I have a large, very generous family.

My husband and I have recently been talking about buying diapers when they go on sale. I am 13 weeks now, but if we can get them at a good price and stock up, why not!

Eh I think it comes from the same place of like, if you want one really bad it won't happen and if you don't want one you'll have one. I have an entire room of baby things that people in my family keep handing down because they know I'm trying! I consider it a huge blessing and if we never have a child what's the harm done, I will give it to somebody who needs it.

I don't believe in bad omens or whatever. You want to buy a few things here and there go for it. I have an outfit I bought to announce our pregnancy to my husband... that didn't go so well because I thought we weren't going to be able to have children on our own so when we were moving I showed it to him. That same month I ended up pregnant unexpectedly lol cuz we gave up trying and I was so excited it was positive I jumped on my husband in bed and shoved the pee stick in his face saying "look! Look!" Lol we also have a friend who's giving us a rocker chair and this weekend we plan to get a few things here and there. (I'm only 9 weeks).

It has nothing to do with luck or omens, you were either meant to have kids or not. If for some reason you don't get pregnant (God forbid) save the items for a friend or donate them. It's still helpful and for a good cause. I started picking up items at yard sales over a year ago (like a $20 toddler bed) and we have just started ttc. I would say not to go overboard just when you see something on sale or when you get a great deal.

Not a bad omen but you have the worry that you will misscarry and itmay  upset you to see baby clothes etc....or that toure acared that you may not conceive at all... Its a lot of pressure but i understand v hard not to buy cute outfits!!!

I don't think it has anything to do with being black or your neighborhood. I'm white and my grandmother would have said the same thing. She even said looking at wedding magazines before you're engaged is bad luck.

I was always told it was bad luck to buy baby stuff for your own baby until you were atleast 4 months thru the pregnancy. (But my family is very superstitious )

Yes I believe in superstition and I think getting the baby items before you're pregnant is a bad idea. I didn't start buying baby items until I knew the gender.
