Can in-laws ruin a marriage?

I HATE my MIL. I can't stand her lying, minipulative ways. Of course my husband loves her so I have to put up with her but since I've been pregnant she's become worse than ever trying to control every aspect of our lives for our baby. We just had our first altercation because she was lying about me and my husband to another family member. My husband confronted her about it and she got super defensive and started yelling at me for thinking I would accuse her of talking about us behind our backs. I'm so done with her shit and I'm thinking about just not coming with when my husband goes to see her. I don't want it to get between me and my husband though if I don't go visit like he wants.

If you let them yes. We ended up cutting all ties with my MLI because she was just a horrible person who would stop at nothing to try and get us divorced. She now is blocked on social media, doesn't have our phone numbers and doesn't have our address not to mention we live stated away from her. Life has never been better ♡

Only if you allow them to, you have to nip it in the bud, if he doesn't say something you should( he might be a little relentless because that's his mother) that's when you give him the ultimatum if needed, but it's all a little jealousy because he left the nest and has you now or vice versa

I also have psychotic MIL who lies about me on the regular and has never given me a chance in the 4 years I've know her. I answered "yes" because they absolutely can if you let them. It has taken a while but we are at the point where I have limited contact with her (it helps we live in different states). We accept that she's not going to change and we are doing what we need to do so that she still has a relationship with my husband and daughter but that I am not subjected to her that often. With the baby, things are going to get more intense and you have to be prepared to stand your ground and tell her to fuck off (well, your husband has to). As long as you and hubby can agree on what to do about her, it will hopefully not come between you.

My MIL constantly puts my husband in  between her and I. She is a difficult, opinionated woman who always expects things to be her way. She struggles with me for power over my husband. I do not own my husband but she believes she owns him. If there is an issue, she expects him to pick her over me. He does not..my husband always has my back and stands by me which drives her craaaaazy! She tries so hard to turn him against me. I stole her first born baby and I will be punished for it for the rest of my life I guess ugh. It does put a lot of strain on our marriage and the only fights we ever have are because of her and my other inlaws.

If you let her...exactly what u said has happen for me..and still does and I don't even go around her anymore..my SO defends me every time and he even stopped going around and talking to her as much..he said out of respect for me.. I told him he's more then welcome just minus me..hopefully it will get better for u guys other wise do what I do..of shes around we will say hi..that's about it we can't get along so I'm done forcing it..
