Has anyone had and abnormal test and be told to get Amniocentesis?

I had my screening appt at 16 and it came back abnormal. It is so devasting since i had blightem ovum more than a year ago and i spend a year trying to conceive and now this. The results came back with risk of down syndrome and doctor told me to go for amniocentesis, but im reaaly scared.idk what to do, if i do it or not is anything gonna change?

I'm going through the same thing as we speak. We opted for more in-depth bloodwork before we do the more invasive amnio.

My best friend had an abnormal test but when they did the in depth one everything was normal. A false positive on some of the tests is not horribly uncommon. For my husband and I we decided before pregnancy that we wanted tests so we would know what to prepare for but would not consider termination unless there was as risk that both me and the baby wouldn't survive otherwise we'd take it all in stride.

We did Down syndrome testing anyway (the Nuchal fold screening plus blood tests) and they came back negative, but I've also heard that a LOT of moms get at least one false positive marker at some point that turns out to be nothing.
