Can't stop coughing at night

I'm making an appointment with my doctor tomorrow morning. But have you ever had this? Or know what It is? I caught a cold last Thursday and started coughing on Sunday. Every night since then I've been up all night coughing. I finally fall asleep around 5-6 am and wake up around 10 coughing again but it just stops after that. I cough here and there during the day but nothing near as bad as at night. Does bronchitis act like this or is it something else? It's mostly a dry cough but there's occasionally mucus. It's not oddly colored or too thick. I do still have a slightly stuffy nose too. I've never had anything like this and it's making me go crazy lol. Yesterday I fell asleep at 4:30am and woke up coughing at 8 am. Went back to bed at 9 and slept until 2 pm without a problem.
