Hi, I got diagnosed with PCOS in 2011 by my ob-gyn.  He removed the cysts during surgery and recommended I go to an endocrinologist. I did and that doctor put me on Metformin. PCOS impacts the ability of your cells to "eat" sugar (glucose) for reasons unknown to medicine. This is called insulin resistance. It impacts your blood sugar, blood fat, testosterone levels, estrogen levels, and your ability to ovulate. That last bit causes the cysts that Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is named after. My doc gave me Metformin (a diabetes drug) to normalize the blood sugar in hopes of rebalancing the hormones and restoring ovulation (which would help prevent ovarian cysts.) Work with your ob-gyn and find an endocrinologist that specializes in PCOS. For daily life: Drink enough water, get enough sleep and sunlight (both impact hormonal balance), eat organic as much as you can (chemical pesticides and hormones in meat and dairy don't help your hormonal imbalance). Try replacing breads with sprouted grain varieties. Replace sugar with stevia, agave, lucuma, raw honey, fruit juice-sweetened, and the odd bit of raw sugar or xylitol (easier said than done--but I'm still working on it.) Exercise moderately 30 minutes 6 days a week. Take a good whole food multivitamin, an Omega 3, probiotics, and a greens (like Kyo-green) supplement. Detox with massage therapy or sauna or Dead Sea salt bath (can buy salts in the store). Pray and keep a positive outlook. Manage your stress. Do what you enjoy, read uplifting stuff, and stay positive. PCOS isn't perfect, but it is livable. Blessings, Stacy.

I don't get my hopes up about pregnancy. Its an everyday struggle with the symptoms. You CANT change it so you learn live with it. You choose how happy or miserable you want your life to be.

Ive has pcos since i was 16 yrs old with my first cyst that bursted. I gained about 50 pounds and had a period about every 3-6 months. Since i changed my eating to not having meat to once a few times a month and having a vegitarian diet. I do not eat processed foods or eat fast foods. Since loosing 40 pounds, and having regular sex with my bf, ive had a regular period for a year now which is the more regukar ive ever been in my life. I also suffer from embarressing hair growth on my face/chin which i wax and laser off. I also have acne only around my period time as well along with horrid cramps.

I diet and exercise. I have regular periods now. I lost 50 pounds and it made my periods go from once a year to once a month. I get the embarrassing hair growth and I keep it smoothed. My husband loves me for me and I take care of anything else related. I get terrible acne so I try to keep my face clean all the time. It's mainly diet and exercise it isn't easy but it isn't the hardest thing either.

With pcos do you wake up days in horrible pain?

Check out PCOS diva I just am finding out now I have all the symptoms and it took me three years to get the doctors to ultrasound and blood test me. But yes diet exercise manage stress.
