Taking clomid even if OPKs are positive.

I'm 29 and my hubby is 32. We have been TTC for 7 months. I ovulate every month, sometimes my ClearBlue test gives me solid smiley faces anywhere from day 8 to day 18 in one month. I have gotten multiple non consecutive solid smileys in one month, which I think is super weird. I took the HSG test, and my tubes are clear. My hubby had his sperm tested and all aspects of the test came back above and beyond normal. My OBGYN told me taking clomid can do more harm than good if you are already ovulating. Should I try clomid or continue with out it?
