It doesn't make you get pregnant but you should definitely be taking it in a prenatal vitamin while ttc. The fetus needs folic acid the whole pregnancy but especially in the first few weeks while forming while most women don't even know they're pregnant yet. Taking it while ttc helps to ensure that the baby has had it the entire pregnancy to prevent birth defects.

I went in to see my Obgyn 6 months ago because my husband and I wanted to start trying and the first thing he says is I am prescribing folic acid...... It definitely helps with birth defects and makes the fetus stronger in the first few weeks
