Interracial relationship (what's the big deal)
My fiancé is white and I'm just a big cocktail lol but to the naked eye I guess I just look like a black girl (which I absolutely love. I'm the darkest one in my family #TeamBrownSkin 😂😂😂) anyways today we went out for brunch and I was verbally attacked by a group of black girls and guys for being with my fiancé.
They kept pointing at us and laughing and calling me a "sellout" for being with him. One of the guys actually asked me if I thought I was better than black people for being with him. Ummm what?!?!?
I just don't understand it... Especially coming from a family who's dates all races and having a mixed background I don't really see race especially when dating.
I know I shouldn't be bothered but I am. My poor fiancé was so upset yes he stood up for me but the walk home he was just as confused and upset as I.
In 2015 I don't get how dating/ marrying outside of your race is A). Anyone's business B). Makes me a sellout C). Why it's ok to make racial comments when there's so much going on in the world.
I guess my question is what's the big deal? Has anyone experienced this and how did you handle it?
