Membrane stripped!

Went in today and my doctor checked me and I'm 3 cm! He stripped my membranes since my first born was 10 pounds and this baby is measuring ahead. I'm 38 wk and 2 days. Hoping this gets things moving! Went for a walk after my appointment, even though I was totally uncomfortable from the strip. I have been having intense contractions, but they aren't consistent. He said if I have contractions that are pretty consistent to go ahead to labor and delivery!! Hoping the strip worked and to get to meet my baby boy soon!! Anyone else have luck after having a membrane strip? I heard if it's going to work it usually does within 48 hours of strip..
