When do you experience Mittleschmerz

I'm currently on CD 8 and all day I have had some cramping/pinching sensations in my right pelvic area. I have been using opk's twice a day and haven't gotten my LH surge yet, but could this be ovulation pain? I don't experience O pain regularly so I'm not sure if that's what this is or not, and it's fairly early into my cycle.  How closely does ovulation follow Mittleschmerz?
