BDSM and parenting?

So.... I'm into the BDSM and petplay. I see no reason why a BDSM relationship and parenting can't go hand in hand if done properly. Safe-Sane- Consensual and the open communication should extend to dealing with children. I don't know why it wouldn't, but I just wanted to get other's opinions.

BDSM and parenting certainly can go hand in hand,  however the thing is that when children are involved to have to really seriously take their consent into consideration. And no, I'm not referring to their consent to be involved. I'm talking about their consent to even be made aware of what's going on in your sex life. 
To be quite honest, they have no need to know exactly what it is you do, how you do it,  or why. You can still maintain your playtime, but ideally it would be modified by the use of 'invisible protocols'. Invisible protocols would allow you and your handler to continue playtime in a reduced manner while in a location or situation where you either don't,  or can't, really expose others to your lifestyle. This is also assuming that you have a more 24/7 kind of deal, instead of the ability to pick and choose your playtimes. For example, Husband and I are in a 24/7 D/s relationship with a 9 year old, an almost 2 year old, and another due in August in our house. We extensively use invisible protocols in the house, in view of the children, and when outside the home. When alone, or among other lifestyle consenting adults, we function 'as usual'.
Its entirely possible to raise children in a very sex positive environment with extensive knowledge of sexual physiology, consent practices, and 'alternative' lifestyles without disclosing your private sex life to them.

Umm... Like behind closed doors or are you walking around on a leash and on all fours in front of your kids? I think it's fine if you keep it behind closed doors but doing any kind of power play in front of your kids is a bad idea, at least until they're old enough to educate about it.

I guess I'm confused on how you're relating the two? One is adult private time, the other is interactions with your children.
