Any good home remedies for a sinus infection? :)

I aknt going to the doctor, because 1) it costs money 2) antibiotics wont do s*it for a virus either. So: anyone got any tried and true methods they use? I would totally appreciate it :)

I once had a really bad sinus infection, and a nurse in the er told me to put a dab of triple antibiotic in a bowl and enough saline to mix with it in a syringe and use it like nasal spray. It burned so bad but I started feeling better within a day and it was completely gone in three days. I did that mixture twice a day once in the morning and once at night.

Warm lemon water breaks up mucus. Milk and dairy increase mucus production so cut those out. DayQuil "dries up" mucus which can trap bacteria and lead to sinus infections. Mucinex type products will expel mucus. Can do a round of mucinex followed by lemon warm water with lemon juice and teas with lemon. Take a multivitamin and try to exercise some, which will also break things up. You may find the need to spit out (sorry gross) and blow your nose a bunch during exercise. You can definitely kick it prescription free!

Afrin nose spray works well! Only thing is you should not use it more than 3 days or it can mess you up- although by day 3 you really don't need it anymore and can breathe 90-100% better. It's fairly inexpensive and is over the counter

It depends on how bad it is! It's not always a viral infection. An acute sinusitis can be caused by a bacterial infection which would be treated with antibiotics.

Try inhaling to get the mucus flowing and out. Hot water and Japanese mint oil in in big bowl, put a towel over your head and the bowl and let the flow begin ;)

If it lasts longer than 12 weeks make sure you see a doctor though as it can be become a chronic sinusitis :/

Netti pot! I always thought they looked weird and never wanted to try it. Then I bought one and I love it. It clears everything out and makes you feel better. Also lots of tea, rest, soup lol. Hope you feel better soon!
