Question!?!

This month my period started out light but got heavier with pretty big clots and super bad cramps the first 3 days. I used a tampon for about 4 hours for each of the 3 days I went swimming. I do not normally use a tampon except for swimming. Every time I used a tampon I would not bleed for about 7 hours after taking it out... this is the 9th day that I'm bleeding the past two days is been brown blood before it was dark red.... is this normal to bleed this long when you wear tampons?
