Coming off of birth control?

I'm so confused on what to do and I haven't talked to my GYN yet, but I've been on the pill since I was 15. I'm now 22, that's 7 years...and I've been on it straight. Never came off, no breaks. How bad is being on the pill for your body? Truthfully??? Me and my boyfriend have discussed me coming off of it, because I've heard how hard it is to conceive after being on the pill so long. Is that true? I'm also nervous that once I do come off of it I'm going to be the girl that bleeds for weeks straight until my body figures out what is going on. I want to do this now, but with summer being weeks away I don't want to have to be the one who can't do anything.
