Timed intercourse BEFORE LH surge

Hi everyone. I went to the doc yesterday to talk about my ovulation and ttc and I just wanted to share something he told me. He said the latest research shows that using the opk to see the lh surge is the best indicator that you are ovulating, since it is definitive and not dependent on you trying to interpret cm changes (I think this is sort egg white like....?). He also said that if you can use both cm changes AND the opk, then that's a double great way to do it. Here's the kicker that got me. He said the latest research shows that the best chance of getting pregnant is actually to have sex BEFORE you even detect the lh surge. So, what I gathered from this is that if you get a chance in cm that hopefully happens before your surge, then use that as a good sign to just do it. The other thing is if your cycles are fairly regular (eg you always ovulate day 14 of your cycle) then you can have timed intercourse 2 days before you expect the surge. The other thing is losing weight. He said studies show losing even 10 lbs can increase your chances of conceiving and will help the pregnancy go better (walking buddies anyone?).

I just wanted to share that information from the doctor himself. It seems to be a little different than what most people are doing (waiting until the lh surge to tike intercourse). Hopefully this info will help everyone. Baby dust :)
