Sore Boobs

My period is late and for the past three or four days my boobs have been hurting so much so that I've resorted to just wearing sports bras. Is there something going on with my body that I am missing? I am 16 years old and this has never happened before. I would greatly appreciate any feedback or stories of similar experiences.
