In today's society, many live by the values that would've have been considered "strange" or "abnormal" even just a few years ago. With the recent change in the relationship values, should we, as a society, accept the lifestyle condoned by Ashley Madison*?

*Ashley Madison is an online dating service and social networking service marketed to people who are already in a relationship, whose slogan is "Life is short. Have an affair."

To me an affair is still cheating, going behind your partners back.
I know there's all kinds of relationships out there (poly, open etc.) so everyone's boundaries are different but as far as I'm concerned if you partner(s) don't know your sleeping with someone else then it's wrong.

Is it consensual? Are all parties aware? There is a 'kink' for it, and if it's that then as long as everyone is aware I don't have an issue.

There have always been ways to cheat. Technology just brings new ways... As well as ways to stay in touch with your partner if long distance and to check in with them throughout the day if that's your thing.

Some people start affairs in Facebook chat. I use mine to tell my husband I am going to the store and what does he need me to get, and he responds with forwarding me Humans of New York posts that he knows I like.

Technology is a tool. We can use it for good or bad reasons. I would never type ashleymadison dot com in my web browser. No need or desire.

I would not use a site like that because I'm not interested in being unfaithful. But let's get real. Ashley Madison is making money off of this site because there is a market for it. At the end of the day, many married people want and will cheat. I don't blame the founder for taking advantage of it and getting rich.

In some cases people agree on having multiple partners for whatever reason, but the vast majority still want a single partner dedicated to them alone. This percentage is and will always be against cheating/betrayal because it's exactly what they didn't want going into that relationship. And if you lie to your partner, be you poly or mono, you're a dirt bag and don't deserve them.

Cheating will always be cheating. If you don't like someone anymore dump them or get a devorce. Don't be a psycho about it and play with their feelings.

As far as affairs are concerned, if you're lying to your partner, you probably shouldn't be in a relationship. My personal opinion is that trust is the bedrock of any important bond. If you're lying, obviously there's not enough trust there.

Now, if you have an open relationship & keep the lines of communication open, trust your partner(s), & everyone involved is happy & getting what they want from it. Well, I say go for it.
