How do you deal with distance?

There's all sorts of distance among relationships. You have those long distance that are in two different countries, across a country, or even a few states away. I just want to know how everyone deals with their distances. I want to know how military girlfriends and wives deal with their husbands/bfs departure. Or how college students deal with going to different colleges. I would like to hear everyone's story. My story is silly compared to everyone else's and I'm just trying to deal with it but it feels like I'm missing something, my other half I guess you can say. My bf and I have been dating for 4 months now, but we've known each other for almost a year. For the 4 months we've been inseparable, not because we chose not to be but because we went traveling nonstop and we obviously had a college course together which by default we would see each other every day. But I'm not from the same state as he is, and I chose to stay at college for the summer and he decided to go back home which is 4 hrs away from here or he might go down to another state (which is roughly 6-8 hours). We didn't grow tired of each other and in fact we grew stronger. I am not co-dependent of him and neither is he of me. We are two different people but we were able to come as one. I don't know when will be the next time I see him, it might be in 2-3 months from now. So I'm just trying to cope with his absence. Of course we will be communicating through technology and etc and I'll be doing school work and job. But I don't know what else to tell myself to make myself feel better. Any suggestions?
