RANT: how people treat workers 😡
My husband is a repair tech for Charter cable. I get that the "cable guy" has a certain reputation with some but my husband is a very intelligent man who's had a lot of training and experience to back up his job. He's the farthest thing from a lazy idiot! The way he tells me customers treat him sometimes is appalling! He just called and said he walked off his first job after being verbally and almost physically attacked by a customer. This woman acted like he was a criminal or something denying him access to parts of her home that he needed to complete the job, when he calmly explained to her she started yelling saying he was a "stupid fucking idiot" if he couldn't figure out another way to do the job and insinuated he was lying just to gain access to her home...despite the fact that she's the one who called in for service to begin with! She proceeded to start to push him around so he told her to please remove her hands from his body and walked out. The lady left and the daughter, who's an adult not child, came out and begged my husband to please come back and finish the job so he did. Well mom came back and started yelling at my husband again and trying to grab all his tools and throw them! At that point he said nothing, picked up his stuff, and drove away to call and report to his boss. It infuriates me that people think it's oK to treat workers that way! He works in an upper/middle class area so I get that people get on their high horses about their social positions but guess what? We live in this neighborhood too! He isn't some poor slob, he's a very clean cut man with just as large a home, just as much education, and just as much assets as these people! Just because you view yourself as "above" someone else does not give you the right to speak to and treat them however you want! Obviously money and social standing done equate to class! Before you belittle another person who's there to help you please step back for a second and consider things from their vantage point...😒
