Sex during period

I horny almost all the time but during my period and leading up to it I am extremely horny. However I can't stand the idea of having sex or even being intimate when I have it, it grosses me out. I don't know if I should try it maybe my body will feel better, maybe the cramps won't be as intense. How do I ask my love if he will be ok with having sex during my period? And if so how we do it without making it look like a crime scene when we are done?
