I ate a helping of tuna salad at a grad party today. Will I be okay? I heard we can't have tuna.

Tuna is perfectly fine as long as it is in moderation!!! The high Mercury thing is so far fetched, you have to eat sooo much to be affected.  my doctor and many online pregnancy forums say you can have tuna twice a week!

It's fine. Tuna doesn't have as much mercury as people think, plus it also has selenium, which actually helps your body get rid of the mercury that is there.

Also look for skipjack tuna instead of albacore - skipjack has lower amounts of mercury.

The canned tuna tends to be younger and thus has less Mercury and is safe to eat a couple times a week. Tuna steaks or sushi comes from older tuna and is a no no. Tuna salad is to be watched for food poisoning because it can grow bad quick. If the mayo isn't home made and the salad wasn't left in the sun for hours you're probably fine. Home made mayo is made with raw eggs which is a no no.

My doctor said reg light tuna in water is completely fine one or twice a week even. White tuna is not recommended since it higher in Mercury. I love Tuna I eat it once a week!!!
