Cervical check and stretch!!??

I am currently 38 weeks and 4 days, I went in for a follow up appointment and when she checked my cervix she said I was dilated at 1 cm and said "I'm just going to try to stretch your cervix a little more" I am scheduled for an induction next week on the 17th and that's why she did the stretch so I can be a little more dilated before I go in, but my question is how long after a check/stretch do you spot for, I have been spotting ever since then it's not enough to fill a pad but I am cramping and it is brown blood..I'm just curious
