Please help!!!

Hi, I am pumping for my 8 day old daughter. Her pediatrician said to give her vitamin D DHA daily in her milk. It says on her paperwork 1ml by mouth daily. So I added 1ml to her 2oz of milk & it made her so sick. She threw up the entire bottle. I am just curious if anyone else has added this to their milk & had this problem or if they gave it to them differently? Thanks..

There's a vitamin d dropper you can get where you only have to give 1 drop cause it's concentrated. I heard the vita-sol or whatever 1ml drops can cause gas because of all the additives. I'd suggest looking at your options on Amazon.com or another site. Good luck!

I might sound horrible but I never gave my daughter the vitamins. I EBF her and she is extremely healthy.

She never had any issues and I would do it all the same again.

The vitamins are especially for ebf babies since they don't get enough vitamin D and can't get it naturally until they can be exposed to more sun.

Exclusively breast-fed. My daughter is 2.5 and she has never had any issues not taking the vitamins.

Nope! It's weird how mixing it with the milk does that, but giving it separately (for my son at least) doesn't.

Glad to hear she wasn't the only one to spit it up when mixed with milk. Thank you! I will try it straight from the syringe in the morning when her little tiny tummy feels better.

When I had to give it to my daughter I gave it both ways but she did fine taking it separately. Her ped also told me that I could start taking 10,000iu daily of vit d for a month and after that drop down to 6,000iu and she would get enough through the breast milk that I wouldn't have to give her that anymore.

I think I will try it straight into her mouth with the syringe, because she wasn't a fan of it in her milk. Thank you!
