My mother works in the medical field and she has always told me that you can always get a false negative but you never get a false positive because you need a specific amount of the hcg hormone to register as a positive and once you get that positive reading that's it because it is 99% only going to react if it's indeed true. Now with a false negative it can be that maybe the test is defective or depending on the time of day you take it you just didn't have enough of the right chemical balance to register it as a positive. It is always best to take a test with the first mornings urine so in case you are you should definitely have enough of the chemical build up to show. Although with some women they just never get to a high enough hcg level that it won't show on a urine test and get a blood test to confirm a true positive or negative.

Different tests (like clear blue) measure a different level of hcg than first response, significantly different. Clear blue takes more hcg to show a positive. However, though one of the first response are negative it could have been diluted urine, faulty test, or an older test. Go to your nearest health department for a free pregnancy confirmation. False positives are very rare. Usually if you have a positive and in fact aren't pregnant, the fertilized egg was there and just didn't stick. Hope things work out for you! Good luck!

It's still early so your HCG is likely lower later in the day when you've gotten the negatives. Wait until the day of your missed period and try a pink dye line test. I'm sure you will get a blaring positive by then! The dr will probably do a pee test as well, so there really isn't any benefit to going so early, unless you have great insurance and they will do this for you for free. They will want to see you for your first scan in about a month or so, so relax and enjoy this time! Congrats!!
