Reasonable Abortion Laws
I am jumping off another topic regarding "laws". While I don't know what the consequences would be, here are my thoughts on what being pro-life, pro-choice (how I identify) should look:
1. Any women who needs an abortion due to a medical reason would have one paid for by the government. This includes psychological reasonings which could traumatize a woman (rape, incest, etc). This would be evaluated by 2 medical/mental health personnel also paid for by the government unless in case of fraud (a woman tries to lie about rape). Abortion due to a trauma would indicate at least 8 mandatory counseling sessions paid for by the government.
2. Prior to any non-medical abortion, a woman who wants one due to not wanting the child must undergo an "abortion education" class which discusses both sides of abortion. There would be imagery of what a fetus would look like at the age of when the woman is requesting one (I.e 8 weeks, 10 weeks, etc) and all options are given full exploration. It will also discuss what an abortion vs what full term would look like on the effects of the female body. It will be completely fair on both ends of abortion vs non abortion.
3. In any non-medical abortion, after the "education" class of a woman wants to continue with abortion, it is her responsibility to pay for the medical procedure. She is also required to attend 2-3 sessions of counseling at a minimum (as it is a traumatic event even if a choice)
4. There should be a world wide registry where all abortions are documented in secure web space and must follow confidentiality guidelines. Any woman who requests a 2nd (or more) non medical abortion in a 2 year period would undergo a separate course on safe sex and be evaluated for the need for birth control.
5. Abortion after the 20th week of development would be illegal in any non-medical emergency situation.
Just my thoughts...
