Meds inhibiting ovulation?!?

I saw on my local news yesterday that there are medicines that are taken for back pain that inhibit ovulation. Two of the meds they mentioned (Ibuprofen and Naproxen) I take almost daily. I've been TTC since early March! Has anyone conceived while taken these medicines? I have been taking them less frequent to get used to having to deal with the pain since I wouldn't be able to take them while pregnant. It just makes me more less hopeful that I'll get pregnant again. 😞😒

I've taken these (not on a daily basis) and got pregnant. I know you are absolutely not to take these types of meds during pregnancy but I've never heard that they hinder ovulation. That's interesting to know. It's best to "pretend" you're already pregnant while you are TTC. Take Tylenol only etc. I have pretty moderate back pain and I'll tell you that Tylenol does not work, but I'm willing to make a sacrifice.

You guys may or may not be interested but thought I'd share! I've been taking ibuprofen for 8 years every month during my period. Last month my cramps actually weren't bad and I didn't even need to take any. This month was the first month I have EVER had EWCM and the first time I'm actually pretty sure I ovulated! Coincidence?!

Go see your doc and ask him to switch you to something safer while TTC and that you can stay on during pregnancy. NSAIDs are not considered safe. But there are options.

You should switch to acetaminophen  if you're TTC since ibuprofen and naproxen aren't safe in pregnancy.
