My s/o got me one today and I love it but never heard promise ring to be honest??? What does it symbolis??

Promise to get engaged... I told my OH not to bother with a promise ring as you may as well get engaged instead. Just preference though.

To me a promise ring is fake commitment. "I love you, just not enough to marry you." The only time I saw it where it kind of made sense was in high school. But even then I still think it's weird. It just doesn't make sense to me honestly.

Wow I promise ring is sweet! I got one from my now husband about almost a year in to our relationship...it's just your man wants you to know that he loves you and sees a future with you and will be true. It is not a "fake promise" it's just a man not rushing in to things!

I've been dating my bf for 3 years now. He gave me a promise ring because although we just graduated college, we still have 3.5 years of grad school to finish. To me a promise ring is the step before an engagement. It basically means one day I will replace this ring with an engagement ring. It's usually for those who aren't old enough to get engaged yet.

My now husband got me a promise ring 2/3 years into our relationship, it's meant to show that they are committed but are not ready for marriage and that when they are you will receive an engagement ring.
