When I was about 6 weeks along, I had some bleeding after intercourse and went straight to the ER. They did an ultrasound and just told me the baby was fine. Then at my 8 week (first dr's appointment) after my ultrasound my doctor told me the reason for that first bleed was that a perigestational bleed had shown up in my ultrasound. I have never heard of this. She said its small and common and just to wait 2 weeks to have intercourse again. We waited the 2 weeks, had intercourse and no bleeding so I thought we were in the clear. Then a week or so later we had intercourse again and this time, the bleeding was back. The bleeding went on for a lot longer and I thought I saw a clot so I called the on call nurse just in case. She advised I go to the ER just in case. When I went to get ready to go I noticed the bleeding had suddenly stopped and I called the on call nurse back. She then said to just come into the office in the morning and they'd find the heart beat with the dopler, which they did. Healthy heart beat still. My husband and I are just gonna restrain from intercourse. I've Googled perigestational bleed and there is not much out there, for something my dr claims is so common. It's very frustrating. I've read it usually shrinks or goes away around the beginning of the second trimester but when I brought that up to my dr she just said, we will see...
