Let's face it. Babies are expensive--a huge financial commitment. Studies have shown that birth rates drop when times are hard.

Did the recession/other financial troubles impact your TTC timing? Share your story below!

It takes sooooo long to get pregnant... I would never hold off now, knowing that. When this baby comes it's coming regardless of financial hardships... We will figure it out

We really thought about this but we trust God. He has not failed us yet and he won't start now. It's tough but it just increases our faith as we move through this season.

God is good! He will always make a way. We have been TTC since February and have been paying private insurance (850/month). I was just approached to work a new full time job with all the benefits and insurance is only $112/month! So much weight lifted off my heart. Now just for that positive pregnancy test ,what a blessing that would be 😊

To be honest, it didn't. My husband lost his job right after we got married. He was able to get another job, but the pay wasn't great. But we lived in our means and still had small amounts of savings. Now he's back in his original profession but we still try to live modestly because there is always some uncertainty in our minds. However, we believe that God will provide provision for any baby that is brought into this world.

No.. maybe that sounds irresponsible to some but the thing is, you may never have enough money... it's like when guys say they want to save up until they get married, the truth is they'll never think they have enough so it'll never happen. As long as you're working and can save its possible. You never know what can happen tomorrow, you may lose fertility or God forbid something bad happens then you may forever regret putting it off. my husband works in a fast food on a low income but we've still managed to do it, and we're currently TTC #2. It's hard, but it's worth it and you learn about ways to save and buying in bulk etc for it to work out cheaper. Plus most people buy unnecessary things for the baby first time around when you don't even need half of what people say! baby showers a good way to get stuff too!

I waited for financial stability and now I can't conceive. Wish I wouldn't have waited. Of course, how was I supposed to know I would have so many fertility issues. 😣

Right before my husband and I got married, we started saving up and preparing to have a baby & start TTC right after marriage. We struggled for get pregnant and after 11 months TTC, I went and had an HSG exam. A0month later we conceived & the a month after that, I got the bill for the HSG exam (which come to find out was not covered by insurance & is $2k)... Along with a couple of other medical bills of stuff not covered by insurance.All the money we saved, is now going to that examNOW I'm stressing because we have NO money saved & so I'm stressed out about who were going to afford having a baby.

I don't think there is ever a perfect time to have a baby but my husband and I defiantly had some small financial goals. Paid off some debt, got into a better house, mostly wanted to get some stuff in order before we have a baby. It's nothing to rush into and we want to give the best to our babies. TTC baby #1 now! Just working on getting healthy while we try :)

Hubby and I waited, We just moved into our own house a month ago. We started trying before we moved though.

Honestly we have not been in bad financial trouble. We do go broke here and there when we purchase large items but his Mom is keeping our savings and I'm so glad! I know when we do have a baby our needs and wants will come last...as they should... I'm down for some ramen noodles and water every night if need be!
