Is texting cheating?

Question

I recently discovered that my husband of three years was texting a girl back and forth and he met her for lunch one day. Since then he swears he broke it off and tell me that since I had our second baby he just felt ignored and enjoyed the attention and flattery. He swears nothing physical happened but I tell him he may as well have screwed the girl because the betrayal feels the same. She knew he was married and she still played along and pursued him. I want to forgive him but I can't get those messages out of my head. What do you ladies think?

It most definitely is cheating. Emotional cheating is very real and it makes me sad that a lot of people don't think it is. If you think you and your husband can get through it, I would suggest counseling. Also, shame on the other woman for still pursuing him when she knew he was married. I'd rip her a new one, too, because they're both at fault.

Well now, he didn't just text with her, he meet her for lunch. I am suspicious of anything a man does which they find the need to hide.

I had something similar to that with my husband. I talk to him about it and let him know that it was wrong and if he had any love for me he would stop texting her. So he did stop and change his number. I can't say every guys is the same but don't give up on your husband it may still be in your head but let him know that u forgive him, and don't bring it back up to him. See how that works out.

In my opinion it's still betrayel but you need to do what's best for you guys if you think you can get through this fight for your marriage if you feel that he will do it again then walk away now before you waste more time but only you know what to do

If it was platonic conversation and nothing sexual then no i wouldn't consider it cheating.

If there was hints towards more then a playonic situation I would feel betrayed but not really cheating to me. To me cheating needs to be sexting, i love yous, physical touching, but that's just me.

I would be angry though for the lack of telling me. My guy has female friends, they do lunch, so him hiding a friend would make me question the intentions.

I would suggest marriage counseling. Whether or not you consider it cheating (and your opinion is the one that matters most) it's definitely crossing some boundaries. It's not acceptable that he did this, and if he's claiming it's because he is unhappy with the state of your marriage, counseling is a good option to explore these issues and figure out how to cope with/fix them.

Men are dumb and don't think about how things look. If they hide it I believe it's for a reason. It may not be physical cheating but seems to be mental cheating in my opinion

It all depends on ur ability to forgive him nd trust him again.. it may take time but if u think ur realtionship is worth trying to make it work i say go for it. I had to do that with my bf when we first met. I knew he had to talk to his ex cuz of his daughter but he wasnt over her so when i saw the texts i felt betrayed by him. I knew they werent having sex but it still hurt the same. She was already with another guy nd played along as well. I confronted him nd it took a long time for me to truly forgive him but i knew i cared about him nd wanted to make it work nd i gave him the chance to earn my trust back. Now we have been together 5 years nd engaged for 2. We arent a perfect couple but i have no doubts about him i know he loves me.
