Have you or anyone you know been criticized for breastfeeding in public?

If you have, how so? I personally think that breastfeeding is one of the most natural things that humans and many other animals do. If someone doesn't like it, they don't have to look at it.

Yes, I had an older gentlemen approach me at a restaurant. It was after my daughter's first appointment so she was only a few days old. I was in pain, exhausted and my older daughter was having a hard time adjusting. We stopped for breakfast and baby needed fed.

He came up and said "that's disgusting, can't you cover up?" I just burst into tears.

My husband said "Your attitude is disgusting. Why don't you look away, cover YOUR face or leave. She JUST had a baby and she is simply feeding her the way nature intended. If she were to wait until we got home then you'd be bitching about our crying newborn. No one asked for your opinion and you sure do have some nerve approaching strangers like that with your ignorance."

The man's jaw dropped, he muttered an apology and went back to his table.

As we were leaving, he was too and my older daughter tripped and he helped her to her feet and said "make sure you take care of your mommy and your new baby sister"

I don't think he will ever say a word to another breastfeeding momma

To me breasts are for breast feeding. If my child is hungry I'm going to feed her. And I'm not going to go out to the car to do it. But I will use a nursing cover. I don't want everyone to have to see my boob.
