Skipping placebo week

Hi! I just have a concern regarding birth control. I take the combination pill ortho cyclen(right now the generic Sprintec) and for the last pack I sort of forgot I was on my placebo week so I ended up starting a new pack and skipping the placebo pills by mystake. I've heard it is normal to do so such as for avoiding a period but I was wondering if it is normal that I am spotting for about a week now or so.  Im going to the doctor tomorrow anyhow and will ask but I was wondering if this has happenned to any of you.
