No appointment until 10 weeks… What now?

I could not get an appointment until I am 10 weeks. They will not see me at all before then... I asked if there's anything I should do in the meantime and they told me no as long as I'm taking prenatal vitamins, which I have been. Everybody is always talking about getting their levels checked and getting their pregnancy confirmed and getting ultrasounds super early... I'm just worried because she told me that the home pregnancy test was my confirmation and I didn't need to see anybody else. I feel like I'm doing something wrong...

Most doctors won't see you until 10 weeks, there is no need to confirm, beyond a urine test.  Do not worry.  Take your prenatal and relax, trust me you will be seeing your doctor plenty in the comming year.

I had my pregnancy confirmed at my GP's  office with a blood test the same week as my hpt was positive. I saw my obyn the following week because my periods were super irregular and I got an ultrasound, I was already 10 weeks along! Apparently that was one time I actually ovulated like a normal person lol

I got an appointment when I was just a little over 5 weeks, and all they did was only talk to me if I feel okay, explained what to do in case of nausea, and told me that bleeding is not ok. That's pretty much it ))) and I did blood work over a month later, because I was so scared to do it, and all they didn't check any levels or anything, just blood type, any infections and that's it ) no worries. There is really no need for the doctor yet :)

My doctor typically won't see anyone until 8-10 weeks. I was seen as soon as I called to schedule because I've had one ectopic. They monitored my HCG levels everyday and scheduled an ultrasound at 6 weeks. I ended up going in at 5 weeks due to unusual spotting. Sadly, I miscarried that same evening. Honestly, unless there is major spotting to severe pains, continue to take your prenatal meds. Good luck!

No. Some Drs offices take a bit longer for the first app especially if you have no previous pregnancies or miscarriages or haven't been ttc for over a year. My Dr does a confirmation app when I scheduled one. It's basically a pee test, she checks on how I'm feeling an stuff cuz I have low serotonin which basically gives me bipolar depression. Then we calculate how far I am and then I reschedule for a physical especially if I haven't had a pap in the last 6 months, and she takes my weight and all that stuff. Then because I have history of miscarriage and anemia and needing a blood tranfusion in August after I miscarried she sent me for blood work to check hormone levels and iron and red blood cell counts, things like that, and then I had one more app with her because I had a lump for 2 weeks that was hurting and breast cancer runs in my family (3 aunts all had it) then she transferred me to an OB who would deliver me at the hospital by my house and I've been seeing my OB since I was 13 weeks because my Dr is a whole day trip (I don't drive) from my house so it means bus, and my Dr doesn't deliver babies anymore. I now see my OB every 4 weeks until about 30/32 weeks and then it's every 2-3 weeks till 38 weeks and then it's once a week till delivery.

I think thats wierd. My sister is newly pregnant and they told her the same. She had a uti and an episode of spotting they saw her separately for each thing but still not for her initial visit. My thing is with ultrasound it is important to date in the first trimester, by 12 weeks. So what if people miscalculate and are really further along. The dating may not be as accurate. I dont get it.

My doctor saw me at 6 weeks, but all they did was take a HPT on me and sent me home. No blood work or ultrasound. I think what some ladies do is go to their general doctor and have the levels tested, but I'm not certain as I never had that done. As far as having my pregnancy confirmed, the nurse at my OB administered the HPT, saw a positive and considered me pregnant. Nothing more to it than that.

If you feel that you need confirmation, try seeing your GP for a blood test.
