Hospital birth and natural???

Question

So I'm on Medicaid and I've always wanted to at least attempt to have a natural birth. I just worry if this is even possible in an hospital. I haven't had my 1st appt yet so I can't ask the doc what she thinks. After reading and watching some documentaries I do feel that we are capable of giving birth without much intervention. And no I DO.NOT FEEL THAT WOMEN WHO CHOOSE MEDICATION ARE WEAK OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT, I believe it is a choice we all make for what we believe is best.

Any who has any of you given birth without intervention in an hospital, do you think it's do able? 
I've tried to find birthing centers etc but none are accepting my insurance

It's possible, I was a doula and like 90% of the women had successful in hospital natural births! You definitely have to be able to advocate for yourself and have your partner be involved in being an advocate for you. Hospitals are easy places to get swept up in uneccesaey interventions that are often forced on you. Have a strong birth plan that allows for emergencies, exceptions. Does Medicaid cover a midwife? That's probably the easiest way to step toward a natural birth. Also consider hiring a doula, they help tremendously!!! Unfortunately my husband and I cannot afford to hire one! They're not at all covered by insurance, however I think if you look online at the DONA website (doula registry) you can search for doula students to help and they're usually
"Cheaper" lol.

If nothing else, try to do as much reading and research, you and our partner, about options. You can totally so it!!

I am also Medicaid and am having a natural birth at the hospital. My doctor luckily supports it and he is known to not be pushy with his patients. I've decided it's what I want  BUT I'm still open minded. Like if I'm pushing for 15 hours and my boy is getting affected and stressed from labor than I will accept intervention as it would be better than all the stress.. Hopefully it won't get to that point and I can deliver naturally. Good luck to you! Just find a doctor that takes Medicaid and had good reviews and give them a try. Unfortunately I doubt u can find a birthing center that takes medicaid.

Create a birth plan before delivery. (Google or check out Pinterest) Post that sucker in you hospital room. It's best to tell your doctor from the get go that you plan on having an unmedicated birth. If your Dr isn't supportive, don't be afraid to change. I left my fear mongering OB at 31 weeks for a dr who was supportive. I had 100% unmedicated birth in a hospital. The staff there tried to intervene for stupid "what if" scenarios, but my birth plan, husband and doula all reminded them to respect my birth plan. The biggest part of it is having the confidence to stand up for what you want for you and your baby. Try you WIC office for birth class referrals. Taking birthing classes with empower you with knowledge and confidence to get what you want!

Hire a doula, and take a natural birth prep class like HypnoBirthing. It's not impossible (I had one) but it's HARD. Educate yourself about evidence based practices and enlist birth partner to be a strong advocate for you.

You could definitely shop around for homebirth midwives in your area. But I say getting a doula would be your absolute best option if you choose to go for the hospital birth. Learning all of your options is key

Most hospitals have birthing centers now for women who prefer to birth drug free, my first I had in a birthing center it was nice but my second was at home and soooo much better comfort wise and I didn't have to sign me and baby out AMA to leave after delivering

Our hospital is great and I felt like they went to great lengths to avoid intervention. I watched all those videos too so was worried when I got transferred to the hospital. It was so great there that I'm having #2 at the hospital.
