Mirena vs Paragard?

Has anyone had both a Mirena and a Paragard IUD? I had an IUD put in three months ago, and I thought I was getting one, but my recovery and experience has been far more typical of the other....  My Gyno put me out for the procedure (at my request - I am like deathly afraid of needles and medical stuff) so I wasn't awake to know what was going on, but I noticed that the notes at my follow up said it was follow up for insertion of the OTHER kind of IUD, not the one I had asked for! (Well, at least that would explain why my experience has been so different from what I expected!) Anyone ever had both, or have any experience with how the side effects differ between the two?

I had Mirena after my first baby. My period stopped altogether and my sex drive plummeted and I thought I was Prego every month. It made me a bit crazy. I got that out a year later had my second baby and went for paragard. So much better. The insertion and few months post insertion were very different from Mirena in that I had a period and had energy and wasn't so sore. But each person is different. My sister has no kids, has  Mirena and loves it.

Yeah I work an an Er tech.. Lol ha but I just recently got inserted with  the paraguard up my vaginal walls omg that felt horrible. She numbed me alright I was a awake but after I had pain for four days straight. Lucky to be on Vicodin but not enough to get me going while at work! Now on my flow day two.. The cramps are horrendous.
